Hi! My name is Alicia Kitchel and I’m one of the MSN students heading to Honduras. I’m originally from Chicago, but have lived in New Hampshire, Boston and now reside in Durham, North Carolina. I’m an adult nurse practitioner student at Duke University and am so excited about this opportunity to travel and work in Honduras! In addition to my studies, I work full-time at Duke University Hospital, as a registered nurse in their float pool (meaning I get to travel to 18 different units within the hospital! Very exciting and definitely keeps you on your toes!). I’m passionate about health care, especially the educational aspects, and have always enjoyed working with the Latino population. I minored in Spanish in my undergraduate studies and would love to work with Spanish-speaking patients after graduation. I’m looking forward to learning about the culture of Honduras first-hand and help the people in the highlands who have limited access to health care.
